We take pride in our environmentally-responsible mining process when producing our flagship mineral products – iron carbonate (siderite) and iron oxide (hematite/magnetite).
Established in 1962 by Mathis & Mathis Mining Co., Sidco Minerals was purchased in 1993 by the next generation of mineral processors.
The main market for iron carbonate was initially established in the animal feed industry through scientific research and trials which revealed iron carbonate as an excellent bio-available iron source for animal nutritional.
Iron oxide is used in a variety of applications and industries, from cosmetics to the steel production process.
Continuous research and development by Sidco Minerals and its partners has uncovered many attributes of these minerals which has shown potential in many applications including environmental remediation. From keeping our sensitive waterways clean, to wastewater treatment, and clean coal scavenging. All these applications improve our environment for a better world and place to live.

Project Spotlight
Our spotlight features one of our successful environmental remediation projects – Lake Onondaga. Sidco supplied granular siderite in partnership with Parsons and Honeywell as part of a cleanup project at Lake Onondaga in Central New York. Sidco’s material helped to create a natural filter to help lower the ph of VOCs, improve the water quality of the lake, and help restore this valuable natural resource. “The completion of this project to revitalize Onondaga Lake marks a major milestone for Central New York that will improve the quality of life for residents, and opens up additional opportunities for tourism, outdoor recreation and economic development for the entire region,” New York State Governor Andrew M. Cuomo said. “This work will help ensure that the lake remains a clean, viable natural resource for generations to come.” Sidco Minerals is grateful to have been a part of such an impactful environmental project.
